Note for Microsoft Windows Vista Clients:
Microsoft's Windows Vista operating system has new security changes that prevent
Portfolio Director Professional from updating itself with fixes (Software Updates).
After you have installed the software, right-click on your Portfolio Director short-cut,
select the "Properties" option, click on the "Compatibility"
tab, and enable "Run this program as an administrator".
- Download the software:
To begin downloading, select the following link:
Click here to download Portfolio Director DESKTOP.
- When prompted for download, we suggest that you select the "Save" or "Save File"
button. It is recommended that you do not save the file onto your desktop, but instead
save it to your "My Documents" or "Downloads" folder.
- After the software has completed downloading, double-click the "PortfolioDirector81.exe"
file and the installation process will begin.
*Note: If you are running Microsoft Windows Vista you will be unable
to install Portfolio Director Professional Desktop unless you right-click on the
"PortfolioDirector81.exe" file, select the "Properties" option, click on the "Compatibility"
tab, and enable "Run this program as an administrator" first.
- After the installation is complete, you should have an "Portfolio Director" icon
either on your desktop or on your windows "Start" button under " All Programs".
Run Portfolio Director Professional Desktop and continue with the instructions below
to begin using it.
- When you are prompted for sign-on codes enter "admin" for both the username and
password, then click on the "Login" button.
- Read and agree to the License Agreement.
- When the "Portfolio Trial Period" window appears, choose "I ordered the software
and need to enter my registration codes:", enter the Registration and Software codes
provided to you, and click on the "OK" button.
The Client Setup window will appear and now you are ready to begin manually adding
or importing clients.
Importing Clients:
If you are using any of our supported brokerages, your registration e-mail contains
links and further instructions for importing your client's data. Please refer back
to it to continue your setup of Portfolio Director. A list of all
supported brokerages can be found on our Support Page.
Manually Adding Clients:
If you are not using one of our supported brokerages, you will need to setup your clients and their accounts manually. Please view our Manual Data Entry Instructions for more information.
